Pictures at an Exhibition is an album by the progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer , released in 1971. The album is a live recording of the band's performance of Modest Mussorgsky's composition of the same name and other songs by the band. Pictures at an Exhibition was the band's first album and its only release on Atlantic Records. The album was recorded at the Lyceum Theatre in London in December 1970. Pictures at an Exhibition was praised by critics and fans alike. Bruce Eder of AllMusic called the album "a classic of progressive rock". Pictures at an Exhibition was remastered and re-released in 1996 as part of the band's box set The Return of the Manticore.
