Pioneering British Heavy Metal Band

Black Sabbath is a pioneering British heavy metal band formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler, and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne. The band is often credited with creating the heavy metal genre through their dark style of blues-rock and the incorporation of horror-inspired lyrics and tuned-down guitars. Black Sabbath's career took off with their eponymous debut album in 1970, which was followed by the release of "Paranoid" later that same year. "Paranoid" became their most commercially successful album and included iconic tracks such as "War Pigs," "Iron Man," and the title track "Paranoid."
