Innocent Victim is the seventeenth album by British rock band Uriah Heep , released in 1977. It was the band's first album with new singer John Lawton, who replaced David Byron. The album reached number 36 on the UK Albums Chart. The album was recorded at Roundhouse Studios in London in early 1977 and produced by Gerry Bron. It was the band's first album with new singer John Lawton replacing David Byron. The album's title track was released as a single in May 1977 and reached number 49 in the UK Singles Chart. In a retrospective review, AllMusic critic Eduardo Rivadavia awarded the album three stars out of five, stating, "Innocent Victim is a transitional album for Uriah Heep and therefore not as consistent as some of their earlier or later efforts. However, it boasts some great songs, including the title track 'Stealin' and the epic 'Lady in Black'".
