Deadwing is an album by British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree , released in 2005. The album was recorded between December 2004 and February 2005 in several studios in the United Kingdom. It is the band's eighth studio album and the first to feature drummer Gavin Harrison. The album was produced by Steven Wilson and mixed by Andy Wallace. It was released on CD, double vinyl and DVD-Audio. The album was a commercial and critical success, reaching number 11 on the UK Albums Chart and number 73 on the Billboard 200. The album's title refers to the fictional character Deadwing from the band's 2004 concept album In Absentia. Wilson wrote the album's lyrics and composed the music with Harrison. Music critics have praised the album, with some calling it the band's best album. Several progressive rock bands have cited it as an influence.
