Talk Talk was a British band that started out with synth pop in the early 1980s and became involved in post-rock from about 1986, particularly between 1988 and 1991. Talk Talk are considered one of the most influential pop bands of the 1980s. Laughing Stock is Talk Talk's fifth and final studio album. The album was released in 1991 and was the band's only album released on the jazz label Verve Records after the band left EMI following a dispute. Like its predecessor Spirit of Eden (1988), it is considered one of the pioneering albums of post-rock.
