Ambient

Ambient music, also referred to as ambient (from Latin, meaning environment, surroundings), is a musical style and form based on the premise that all sounds that surround us can be music under certain circumstances. The other pole and part of the assumption is that equally primarily a musical sound or composition can be an environment, a sonic space that shapes our feeling orientation. The two polarities are intertwined, and a conception of music-making of this type can therefore involve both the sophisticated musicalisation of primarily non-musical elements (noises, noises, etc.) and the demusicalisation of primarily musical elements, as well as the simple reproduction of what is heard, or a combination of both.
