Camouflage: Greyscale version on vinyl LP in Standard edition. This particular edition was published in Europe, UK and USA in publishing company Bureau B on 22. November 2024.

Camouflage in top form It's been 30 years since Camouflage recorded their first demos in Bietigheim-Bissingen. With their synth-pop sound, which has always also been a tribute to their great idols, they were then able to celebrate success in the international charts. "The Great Commandment" and "Love Is A Shield" are still very popular today. After the departure of Oliver Kreyssig, the remaining band members played a lot with styles and experimented with different producers. Only with the return of Kreyssig did the band return to their old sound. On the new, eighth album "Greyscale", Marcus Meyn is on the microphone again, but Oliver Kreyssig's voice can also be heard in the interludes. The album was produced by Heiko Maile, who has recently also made a name for himself as a composer of film music for the series Die Welle, Wir sind die Nacht and several episodes of the series Tatort. The German Film Orchestra Babelsberg with its string ensemble also found itself on the "grey scale". These strings, children's choir and guitars form a stylish contrast to the purely electronic elements. Since their big hits, Camouflage have traveled the world from Russia to Mexico and have also found an audience in Asia and South America. Volker Hinkel and Jochen Schmalbach are an integral part of the concert line-up and also contributed to "Greyscale". Peter Heppner is definitely a special guest. His voice, which fans will know from the band Wolfsheim or from his collaboration with Joachim Witt, can be heard in the track "Count On Me" in a duet with Marcus Meyn's vocals. Camouflage don't deny their origins, in fact singer Marcus Meyn still lists "Dark Wave" as a reference on the album. With their straight TR-808 beats, bass, synth arpeggios and pads, Camouflage mark their own sound, but don't get swept away to pure nostalgia. In their lyrics, they deal with contemporary themes with irony and honesty. The three titles are purely instrumental. The overall somewhat melancholic and gloomy impression is broken by Marcus Meyn when he sings "Shine from the inside to light up the dark night". The message, then, is definitely life-affirming. Synth pop is experiencing a bit of a resurgence at the moment - so Camouflage arrive just in time. With the beautiful album "Greyscale", they should easily find new fans. Review.
