Atom Heart Mother is the fifth studio album by Pink Floyd. The album was released on 2 October 1970 in the UK by Harvest and on 10 October 1970 in the USA by Capitol Records. It was recorded at Abbey Road studios in London. It was the first Pink Floyd album to reach number one in the UK charts. This album was a commercial success upon release, but members of the band, notably Roger Waters and David Gilmour, had several negative opinions of it. The cover artwork was designed by Hipgnosis and was the first Pink Floyd album not to feature the band's name or a photograph of the band.
