Kiss : Ace Frehley is Ace Frehley's first solo album released in 1978. It featured contributions from Frehley's former Kiss bandmates Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, as well as Bob Kulick and Anton Fig. The album went gold on November 11, 1978 and platinum on November 11, 1988. The album was recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. The first single from the album, "New York Groove", became a hit in the United States and reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. The second single from the album, "Radioactive", reached number 64 on the Billboard Hot 100. Kiss : Ace Frehley was well received by music critics. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic awarded the album four stars out of five, calling it "a fun, pedal-to-the-metal, unpretentious hard rock album". Kiss : Ace Frehley was commercially successful, reaching number 26 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album received a gold certificate from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling more than 500,000 copies.
