As one of the earliest examples of progressive rock, The Book of Taliesyn is an important work. It's not a masterpiece, but as with Curved Air's second album, the demands of writing more material quickly seem to have spurred them on to greater achievements. The mix of psychedelic, bluesy rock mixed with excursions into classic keyboard segments shows that there are some really interesting ideas hiding in the middle of the album, and there are even moments where the driving guitar and riffs sound like they're about to break into classics like "Highway Star".
