Po historických turné ke sjednocení KISS (více než 400 koncertů v letech 1996-2001) začal Ace Frehley pracovat na materiálu, který vyvrcholil v roce 2009 vydáním alba Anomaly - Frehleyho sólového alba, které se umístilo na nejvyšších příčkách hitparád od jeho debutu z roku 1978 (který obsahoval jediný sólový hit KISS "New York Groove" v Top 20). Allmusic uvedl, že Anomoly "překvapila i dlouholeté fanoušky svými silnými, sebevědomými výkony a ostrým skladatelským rukopisem", nemluvě o debutu na 27. místě v Billboard Top 200. Díky ohnivým riffům, bezchybné produkci Martyho Fredricksona a dechberoucímu řemeslnému zpracování spojuje Anomaly sekerníkovu průkopnickou minulost, přítomnost i budoucnost.
