In particular, indie rock and electronic music artists have been inspired by bands like Konono N°1 and Kasai Allstars. Now the answer is here in the form of a double CD. The 26 tracks come from a wide variety of artists and are part originals, part cover versions and remixes, all influenced by the electrifying "tradi-modern" sound of Congotronics. They include indie scene stars like Animal Collective, Deerhoof and Andrew Bird, musicians like Juana Molina, Jolie Holland and Glenn Kotche (Wilco), electronic producers like Shackleton, Optimo and Bass to Burnt Friedman and Mark Ernestus.
