Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey and Cynthia Rhodes starred in "Dirty Dancing," the most successful motion picture of 1987. Four years earlier, director Emile Ardolino had won an Oscar for the documentary "He Makes Me Feel Like Dancin'" and now wanted to make a dance film that was more like a movie musical - "Dancing Like a Seduction" was a briefing for screenwriter Eleanor Bergstein, who incorporated her own experiences from her youth into the plot. The film is set in the summer of 1963 in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York. Kenny Ortega, who had trained Gene Kelly, choreographed the dance scenes. The most important role in the film, however, is the music: Jimmy Ienner (Three Dog Night, John Lennon), as executive producer of the soundtrack album, opted for a mix of old hits and newly composed songs. The album features the old songs "Wipeout" (Surfaris), "Be My Baby" by The Ronettes, "Love Man" by Otis Redding, "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" by The Shirelles and the Bruce Channel hit "Hey! Baby". New songs include "Hungry Eyes" by Eric Carmen, "She's Like The Wind" by Patrick Swayze and "You Don't Own Me" by The Blow Monkeys. But by far the most successful song is "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" performed by Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley, which achieved a musical hat trick: the song won an Oscar, a Grammy and a Golden Globe.
Album spans genres Rock, Pop, Stage & Screen, Electronic, Pop Rock, Synth-pop, Dance-pop, Soundtrack, Rock & Roll and Soft Rock. 180g Vinyl.
