Both drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers had a long history on the English music scene as members of "old wave" bands such as Curved Air (Copeland), Dantalian's Chariot and Eric Burdon & The Animals (Summers), and it paid off in the unstoppable performance of Copeland (who has since developed his own style) and the clever work of Summers, which, along with Sting's unmistakable voice, made for a unique band. It also focuses on French guitarist Henry Padovani as one of the founding members of the band, who found success as a member of The Electric Chairs after being kicked out of the band. This punk band was initially more popular than The Police, and therefore The Electric Chairs opened for them many times.
