The Beat, also known as The English Beat in North America and The British Beat in Australia, is a band that was part of the British two-tone ska revival in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Formed in Birmingham, England, in 1978, the group fused traditional ska music with punk rock attitude, energy, and musical elements. The band's classic lineup consisted of Dave Wakeling on vocals and guitar, Ranking Roger on vocals, Andy Cox on guitar, David Steele on bass, Everett Morton on drums, and Saxa on saxophone.
