Some would say that the period between the first rock'n'roll boom and the emergence of the Beatles was a barren one, but this is far from the case. The period between Buddy Holly's death and the release of the Beatles' first record, from February 1959 to February 1963, was dominated by young and talented New York songwriters working in New York's Brill Building. Some of them went on to become famous performers, but Tin Pan Alley (where most American music labels were based) was also home to many other writers who also had impressive recordings but remained unknown. One of these was Jack Keller, a musician who often collaborated with songwriters Gerry Goffin and Howard Greenfield. In addition, he also worked with Larry Kolber, Noel Sherman and several other writers who recognized him as an effective collaborator who could create witty tunes in minutes. This 3CD set is a worthy tribute to Jack Keller with 60 of his songs, including many hits. The Everly Brothers, Brenda Lee, Neil Sedaka, Jan & Dean, Connie Francis and many more are represented on the 3CD.
