Connie Francis

Connie Francis

1950s-1960s Pop Music Icon and Singer

Connie Francis is an American pop singer who rose to prominence in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Born Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero on December 12, 1938, in Newark, New Jersey, she became known for her expressive voice and for pioneering the role of women in rock and roll music. Francis achieved international success with her breakthrough hit "Who's Sorry Now?" in 1958, which launched her into stardom. She followed this with a string of hits including "Stupid Cupid," "Lipstick on Your Collar," and "Where the Boys Are," which also served as the title song for the movie of the same name in which she starred.
