Představení vypráví příběh přistěhovalce Alexandra Hamiltona, jehož myšlenky a nové přístupy měly obrovský vliv na dnešní Ameriku. Fascinující Hamiltonův příběh je vykreslen prostřednictvím hip hopových/rapových a R&B písní.

Původní broadwayská nahrávka Hamiltona se setkala s velkým ohlasem kritiky (5 / 5 hvězdiček Billboard). V USA dosáhlo "Cast Album" statusu dvojnásobné platiny.
