Andra Day is an American singer, songwriter, and actress known for her soulful voice and blend of R&B, soul, jazz, and blues. Born Cassandra Monique Batie on December 30, 1984, in Spokane, Washington, she adopted the stage name "Andra Day" in homage to the jazz singer Billie Holiday, who was also known as "Lady Day." Andra Day's career took off with her debut album "Cheers to the Fall," released in 2015, which was met with critical acclaim and earned her a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album. The album's standout single "Rise Up" became an inspirational anthem and brought her widespread recognition.
