The second studio album of the British band T.Rex from 1971 is a classic. One of the two singles was Get It On, T.Rex's best-selling single and the group's only top ten song in the US. Electric Warrior made Marc Bolan an overnight glam rock star. He set a trend that was soon followed by such greats as David Bowie, Roxy Music and Mott the Hoople. Tony Visconti's warm, low-reverb production and Roy Thomas Baker's top-notch recording technique are undoubtedly the key ingredients to the album's success, and these new formats are packed with previously unreleased demos and outtakes. The main draw, however, is the Electric Warrior album - remastered by Tony Visconti, who originally produced it. This year we celebrate 40 years of glam rock! Electric Warrior, T. Rex's second album, was released in September 1971 and it was the #1 hit "Hot Love" that kicked off a movement that would gain momentum in the months that followed and burst into full swing in 1972. In 1971 came the turning point for Mark Bolan, and with a hint of a twinkle under his eye during a performance of "Hot Love" on Top of the Pops on March 10, he ushered in a new era: Glam or Glitter Rock. By the end of 1971, Marc Bolan and Rexmania were so big that people seriously recalled Beatlemania from 1963 for the first time. Electric Warrior topped the UK charts twice: from 18 December 1971 to 29 January 1972, and then again from 5 to 19 February 1972.
