Kid A is the fifth studio album by English rock band Radiohead , released on 2 October 2000 on the Parlophone label. The album was produced by Nigel Godrich and the artwork was designed by Stanley Donwood and Thom Yorke. It marked a radical departure from the band's previous work and incorporated influences from electronica, jazz and alternative rock. Kid A debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200, becoming the band's first album to top the charts in both countries. It won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album and was certified platinum in the UK and gold in the US. Music critics call Kid A one of the best albums of all time. The album spawned four singles, "Idioteque", "Everything in Its Right Place", "Morning Bell/Amnesiac" and "Knives Out".
