Animals is the tenth studio album by Pink Floyd, released in January 1977. It is a concept album that contains a searing critique of socio-political conditions in late 1970s Britain and represents a marked change in musical style from earlier work. Animals were recorded at London's Britannia Row studios, but production was interrupted by the first signs of dissent, culminating in the departure of keyboardist Richard Wright a few years later. The image on the album cover, of a pig swimming between two chimneys at Battersea Power Station, was conceived by bassist and writer Roger Waters and photographed by long-time Hipgnosis collaborators. The album was released in the UK, where it reached number two, to generally positive reviews. It was also a success in the United States, where it reached number 3 on the Billboard 200, and although it only held the top spot in the US for six months, steady sales led to it being certified platinum four times by the RIAA. Pink Floyd's tenth album is finally back on vinyl Pink Floyd fans have been waiting impatiently for this. The rock legends are gradually reissuing all their albums on LP. Already in June 2016, the band's first four albums began, with more albums following in August and September. Now the series has seen another installment, this time titled "Animals". The songs on the reissue were remastered by James Guthrie, Joel Plante and Bernie Grundman. All reissues of the series are released on 180g heavyweight vinyl. The cover art is the original design. Finally: Pink Floyd's legendary tenth album "Animals" is once again available on LP.
