The album was recorded at The Record Plant studio in New York City and was produced by Kiss and Eddie Kramer. It was the band's first album released after the departure of Ace Frehley and Peter Criss and featured new members Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent. The album was commercially unsuccessful and critically panned. The band has since dismissed it as a bad album. However, songs like "I Was Made for Lovin' You" and "Shandi" have become concert staples.
