The album Living With the Past was well received by critics and was a commercial success, reaching number one in the UK and number two in the US. The album went platinum in both the UK and the US. The album's lead single, "Heavy Horses", was also a success, reaching number one in the UK and number two in the US. The second single from the album, "A New Day Yesterday", reached number four in the UK. Living With the Past is often regarded as one of Jethro Tull's best albums, having been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album and also nominated for a Brit Award for Best British Album.
