Product information Fleetwood Mac is a band of many faces. In contrast to their pop sound in the 70s, Fleetwood Mac actually started out in the 60s as a psychedelic blues band led by guitarist Peter Green. The album Pious Bird of Good Omen was originally released in 1969 as a compilation of the band's blues roots: the first four British singles and their B-sides, plus two tracks by bluesman Eddie Boyd with Fleetwood Mac backing. The album's sound is laid back, down & very dirty and includes scorching cover versions of Little Willie John's "Need Your Love So Bad" and Robert Johnson's "I Believe My Time Ain't Long". The B-side features the international hit single "Albatross" and Peter Green's "Black Magic Woman," the latter popularized by Santana's 1970 version. This album is a must-have for any blues fan. Anyone interested in Fleetwood Mac's roots may find that it is, in fact, a very different band than it might seem.
