American folk-rock band. Individual members had previously played separately with Neil Young, Chris Hillman and Rick Nelson before reuniting in 1971 as backing musicians for singer Linda Ronstadt. In August 1971 they went independent, called themselves the Eagles and tried their luck on their own. It worked. The first Eagles album "Eagles" was released in 1972 and immediately hit the charts. Uncomplicated, melodic folk-rock songs with catchy harmonies by singer, pianist and guitarist Glenn Frey (b. 6. 11. 1948 in Detroit), drummer Don Henley (b. 22. 7. 1947 in Gilmer), guitarist Bernie Leadon (b. 19. 7. 1947 in Minneapolis) and bassist Randy Meisner (b. 8. 3. 1946 in Scottsbluff) became instantly popular. "Take it easy" was the group's first hit in the spring of 1972. The most lauded LP to date, which pursued the goal of a concept album, was 1973's "Desperado," in which the Eagles compare the modern existence of a rock musician to that of a last-century gunslinger. In Germany, the Eagles broke through in 1975 with the single "One of these Nights." 33 hits from 1972 to 2003 and a 48-page booklet.
Album spans genres Rock, Pop Rock and Country Rock.
