No need for nostalgia Twice is better - that's why Deep Purple are releasing two new live recordings in 2015. "To The Rising Sun" is one of them, and accompanies the rock band during their performance in Tokyo in April 2014. They chose the Japanese martial arts and concert hall "Nippon Budōkan" as the recording venue. Deep Purple had already recorded a large part of their legendary double album "Made In Japan" here in 1972. On "To The Rising Sun", they returned to the venue 42 years later - albeit with a slightly different line-up: singer Ian Gillan, bassist Roger Glover and drummer Ian Paice had already rocked it in Tokyo in 1972. In 2014 they were backed by Steve Morse on guitar and Don Airey on Hammond organ and keyboards. And they're still great. That's why there's no nostalgia this evening. There will be no shortage of Purple classics like "Hard Lovin' Man" and "Smoke On The Water", but fans can also look forward to new songs from the album "Now What?!", which was only released in 2013. In addition, there are solo intermezzi by Morse and Airey, which show that Deep Purple simply have music in their blood. They captured the proof in Tokyo with twelve HD cameras and a mobile studio. Under the supervision of Roger Glover himself, the concert footage was then edited by producers Eike Freese and Alex Dietz (Heaven Shall Burn) in Hamburg. The title "To The Rising Sun" is complemented by the title "From The Setting Sun...", under which Deep Purple are simultaneously releasing a recording of their performance at Wacken Open Air 2013. With "To The Rising Sun", Deep Purple prove for the second time in one year that they are still one of the best live bands in the world. The concert footage from Tokyo 2014 shows an unforgettable concert in an unforgettable place.
