Originally released in July 1993, it was the last album in the Mk-II line-up featuring singer Ian Gillan and guitar virtuoso Ritchie Blackmore, as well as John Lord (Hammond organ), Roger Glover (bass) and Ian Paice (drums), who had celebrated their second reunion a year earlier. "The Battle Rages On" reached #21 in the UK and #13 in the German album chart. However, it also achieved several top ten placements, including in Japan, Sweden, Austria and Switzerland. The singles "Anya", "Time to Kill", "Talk About Love" and the title track "The Battle Rages On" were released.
