"Stormbringer", Deep Purple's ninth studio album, was released in 1974. It was David Coverdale's second album as the band's lead singer, but for several years it was the last Deep Purple album with Ritchie Blackmore in the lineup. The band's songs became funkier than ever, and the album reached #20 in the US and #6 in the UK, but did not produce any major hit singles for the band. However, in 2006 it was ranked in the top 100 British rock albums of all time, so it's clear that Deep Purple definitely brought the storm and the rock.
