Towards sunset When the sun sets in Wacken, everything turns a deep purple. At least when Deep Purple is playing. Welcomed by a sea of tattoos and black skin, the old rockers made it clear to the young festival audience where the hammer hangs in 2013. With "From The Setting Sun..." the legendary rock band presents a live recording of a concert two years later. And for anyone who thinks Deep Purple have lost quality since their 1968 inception, "From The Setting Sun..." is guaranteed to convince you otherwise. The band has tremendous stage presence, all the songs are technically perfect, and lead singer Ian Gillan wows fans with his usual fine voice. What's more, the Brits are having fun on stage. You can see it on their face and you can hear it in each of the 16 songs that made it from the Wacken setlist to the album. Old hits like "Highway Star", "Into The Fire" and "Strange Kind Of Woman" won't leave you waiting long this evening. But also on the program are songs from the studio album "Now What?!", which was released only in 2013. There's also an organ solo by keyboardist Don Airey and virtuoso improvisation by guitarist Steve Morse along with German Uli Jon Roth, who supports the band on guitar. Bassist Roger Glover and drummer Ian Paice round out the irrepressible combo on stage. Then, when the sun almost completely sets in Wacken, one song can't be missed: "Smoke On The Water" announces the end of the show with a final vocal - pure goosebumps. Deep Purple are still one of the best live bands in the world. And to make sure there's no doubt about it, they're releasing "From The Setting Sun..." "To The Rising Sun" is the title of the recording of their 2014 Tokyo concert. One of them with the song "From The Setting Sun...". The footage from Wacken Open Air 2013 shows the band's spectacular performance and reproduces the unique atmosphere that was in the air that night.
