A milestone of hard and progressive rock The legendary British hard rock band released their fifth studio album "Fireball" 45 years ago. It was the second album by the classic MK-II line-up of singer Ian Gillan, Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, Jon Lord on Hammond organ, Roger Glover on bass and Ian Paice on drums. After releasing the groundbreaking and style-defining album "In Rock" a year earlier, the band further cemented their distinctive sound on "Fireball", which featured Gillan's vocals and Blackmore's signature riff-heavy guitar playing. "Fireball," however, is more experimental than its predecessor and is now considered one of Deep Purple's most progressive albums. The album reached number one in the German and also the UK album charts.
