The legendary British hard rock band released their fourth studio album "In Rock" or "Deep Purple In Rock" 45 years ago. It's also the first album with the classic MK-II line-up of singer Ian Gillan, Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, Jon Lord on Hammond organ, Roger Glover on bass and Ian Paice on drums. The album "In Rock" is still considered one of the first heavy metal albums and a turning point in Deep Purple's stylistic development. On it, the band cemented their signature sound, which was characterized in particular by Gillan's vocals and Blackmore's signature heavy riff guitar playing. It is also the album with which Deep Purple broke through on the international scene. In Germany, the album even reached number one on the sales chart. The most famous singles were "Child in Time", which criticized the Vietnam War, and the song "Speed King". Both groups are still considered defining for later rock and metal.
