The all-round revival of the legendary concert film It's been more than 40 years since Deep Purple headlined the famous "California Jam" festival in the USA. The film footage of this legendary performance "Deep Purple: California Jam 1974" is available again in 2016 on DVD and for the first time on Blu-ray. The concert film was originally released on DVD in 2005. The footage was broadcast live on April 6, 1974 by the American television station ABC. Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), David Coverdale (vocals), Glenn Hughes (bass, vocals), Jon Lord (organ, keyboards) and Ian Paice (drums) played a total of seven songs. It includes four tracks from the then newly released album "Burn" and songs from the album "Made in Japan". The full track list can be found below. The 1974 "California Jam" concert is considered one of the wildest in Deep Purple history. Approximately half a million rock fans witnessed Ritchie Blackmore destroy two guitars and an amplifier that exploded at the climax of the show. Unlike the first DVD edition, the band provided a new DVD for the re-release of "Deep Purple: California Jam 1974" in 2016, the footage has been carefully restored with new editing and the audio has been remastered. A brand new cover and liner notes have also been added. The whole thing is packaged in a high quality digipack.
