Wizzard

Wizzard

British glam rock band

Wizzard was a glam rock band formed in 1972 by Roy Wood, former member of The Move and co-founder of the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). The band is best known for their flamboyant style and their hit single "See My Baby Jive," which was a UK number one in 1973. Wizzard's sound was characterized by its fusion of rock with elements of Phil Spector's 'Wall of Sound' production, incorporating saxophones, cellos, and heavy layering. Despite their initial success, Wizzard struggled to maintain their popularity, and after a few years of chart hits, the band's commercial success waned. They released several albums during their career, including "Wizzard Brew" and "Introducing Eddy and the Falcons," which was a concept album paying homage to the rock and roll era of the 1950s. The band eventually disbanded in the late 1970s. Roy Wood continued to have a successful career in music both as a solo artist and as a producer.
