The Cats

Dutch Pop Rock Group

The Cats were a rock band from the Netherlands, formed in 1964. They are considered one of the most successful bands in Dutch music history. The group was a leading band in the so-called Palingsound (eel sound), which was a particular style of pop music from Volendam, characterized by its melodic tunes and harmonious vocals. The Cats achieved fame with hits like "One Way Wind" and "Lea," and they enjoyed significant popularity during the late 1960s and 1970s. Their music had a substantial influence on the development of Dutch pop music, and they scored several hits throughout Europe. The band's lineup consisted of Cees Veerman, Piet Veerman, Arnold Mühren, Jaap Schilder, and Theo Klouwer. They disbanded in 1985 but had several reunions before permanently dissolving.
