The Alan Parsons Project

The Alan Parsons Project

British progressive rock ensemble

The Alan Parsons Project was a British progressive rock band formed in 1975 by audio engineer and record producer Alan Parsons and songwriter, musician, and manager Eric Woolfson. The band was known for its concept albums that featured a revolving cast of session musicians and vocalists, rather than a permanent band lineup. Alan Parsons had already established a successful career in the music industry through his engineering work on significant albums such as The Beatles' "Abbey Road" and Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon." The Alan Parsons Project's debut album, "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" (1976), drew inspiration from the works of Edgar Allan Poe, setting the tone for the band's thematic and often orchestral approach to album creation.
