Saxon is a British heavy metal band that was formed in 1977 in Barnsley, Yorkshire. They are considered one of the leading bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) movement, which emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The band's classic lineup consisted of Biff Byford on vocals, Paul Quinn and Graham Oliver on guitars, Steve Dawson on bass, and Pete Gill on drums. Saxon has been known for their relentless touring and prolific recording output, having released numerous albums throughout their career.
