Buffalo Springfield

Buffalo Springfield

Influential 1960s Folk Rock Group

Buffalo Springfield was an influential American rock band that formed in Los Angeles in 1966. The group is known for its significant impact on the folk rock and country rock genres, and its lineup included several musicians who would go on to have highly successful careers, such as Stephen Stills, Neil Young, and Richie Furay. Their most famous song, "For What It's Worth," written by Stills, became an anthem of the 1960s counterculture movement. Despite their short-lived existence, Buffalo Springfield released three studio albums: their self-titled debut "Buffalo Springfield" in 1966, followed by "Buffalo Springfield Again" in 1967, and finally "Last Time Around" in 1968. The band's career was marked by internal tensions and management problems, which led to their disbandment after just two years together. However, their music has continued to be celebrated for its innovative blend of rock, folk, and country elements and for the future success of its members in bands like Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Poco. Buffalo Springfield was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
