Swedish Melodic Death Metal Band

Desultory is a Swedish death metal band that was formed in 1989. They are known for their melodic yet aggressive style of music, which was particularly influential in the early Swedish death metal scene. The band released their debut album "Into Eternity" in 1993, which showcased their blend of melody and brutality. This was followed by "Bitterness" in 1994, which continued to build on their sound and helped to cement their reputation within the metal community. After a hiatus, Desultory returned with "Counting Our Scars" in 2010, an album that was well-received by fans and critics alike for its return to the band's early style. Despite never achieving mainstream success, Desultory has maintained a dedicated following and is respected for their contributions to the genre. Throughout their career, they have undergone several lineup changes but have consistently been led by guitarist and vocalist Klas Morberg. The band announced their split in 2017 after releasing their final album "Through Aching Aeons."
