ZZ Top's tenth studio album Recycler was released in 1990. The album was recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis and The Plant in Sausalito. It was produced by Bill Ham and recorded by Terry Manning. The album was mixed by Ham and Manning. The album reached number ten on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album spawned three singles, "Doubleback", "My Head's in Mississippi" and "Give It Up". The album was praised by music critics. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic called it "a dense, consistent album" and "a welcome return to form for the band". Robert Christgau said the album "finds the band's guitar interplay in great shape".
