South Korean Yiruma (b.1978 as Lee Ru-ma) began playing piano at the age of five and moved to London six years later to continue his studies at renowned conservatoires. With the song "River Flows in You" from his second album "First Love" (2001), Yiruma celebrated his international breakthrough. His compositions combine elements of film music and New Age music with melodic pop influences to create postmodern neoclassical music that appeals to audiences around the world and beyond the usual classical music audience. Since the beginning of his successful career, Dutch pianist Jeroen van Veen has been expanding his musical horizons without prejudice. Yiruma had already discovered the Italian neoclassical composer Ludovico Einaudi for himself and his music is the logical outcome of his repertoire. Van Veen does not shy away from the label "simple music"; he is always after effect: on this album, the listening experience is the focus, as it always is with van Veen's productions. The recordings were made at the end of June 2014 in Studio 1 of Van Veen Productions in Culemborg, the Netherlands; the booklet includes notes on the composer and pianist, and personal notes by Jeroen van Veen.
