Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons should easily win the award for the most frequently recorded work of all time. Few of these recordings achieve a certain status among enthusiasts, and even fewer become legends. This stereo recording from 1958 and 1959 has become one such legend. Felix Ayo plays first violin. If you discover an original Philips release in your grandfather's closet, you've struck black gold, as Asian enthusiasts will pay top dollar for a well-preserved copy. Those not so lucky can enjoy the K2HD's superb sound. This CD is part of Universal Music's K2 HD production series, which was initiated by the national company in Hong Kong. This national company distributes FIM productions in Hong Kong and was itself surprised by the huge success of the FIM K2 HD discs, as such expensive products cannot otherwise be sold in large quantities. Therefore, some extremely popular productions have been reworked by Hakamata Takeshi, who as mastering engineer is also responsible for FIM's production, at JVC FLAIR studio in Tokyo. The K2 HDs are manufactured by Memory Tech in Japan and come in a beautifully designed hardcover booklet, similar to the FIM products. The CDs are again protected by a fleece sleeve, just like FIM's. Please note - these CDs are indeed remastered (K2 HD Mastering) and should not be confused with the CDs available in Japan, which have only been transcoded (K2 HD Coding).
