Despite a reputation as a touring band and two well-received albums, Yes has not yet managed to break through commercially to a wider audience as other Atlantic bands have. With the addition of Steve Howe as guitarist, The Yes album, with a better conception of what can be done in the studio with engineer and co-producer Eddie Offord, and with material that can be recorded in the studio with equal vigour, managed to be the final step towards gaining a wider audience in Europe and America. Despite a reputation as a touring band and two well-received albums, Yes have not yet managed to break through commercially to a wider audience as other bands on the Atlantic label have. With the arrival of Steve Howe as guitarist, "The Yes Album", with a better conception of what could be done in the studio with engineer and co-producer Eddie Offord, and with material that could be recorded in the studio with equal vigour, proved to be the final step to gaining a wider audience in Europe and America. This new release includes a complete new stereo mix by Steven Wilson. The Blu-ray/DVD-Audio disc also includes a 5.1 mix and transfer of the original album master, as well as a complete alternate album of tracks created from a mixture of single cuts, live recordings and extended mixes.
