Four legendary country musicians in one supergroup: JOHNNY CASH, WILLIE NELSON, WAYLON JENNINGS and KRIS KRISTOFFERSON. Includes the hits "Highwayman" and "Desperados Waiting For A Train". THE HIGHWAYMAN was a country music supergroup consisting of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson. The group was active from 1985 to 1995. In 1984, Glen Campbell first performed the song "Highwayman" for Johnny Cash. When the four were in Switzerland together, they decided to embark on a joint project. When they were in the studio recording their first album together, Marty Stuart played the song again for Cash. He said the song was perfect for them, four verses, four souls and the four of them together. Campbell then played the song and the band was named "THE HIGHWAYMAN". "Highwayman" is also the name of their first album and single. The foursome thought the name was perfect for them because they had all been touring for a long time and all four had an outlaw image in country music. The album and single eventually topped the country charts. A re-release of Guy Clark's "Desperados Waiting for A Train" reached the Top 20. (Clark is often referred to as the fifth FAR MAN).
