Waylon Jennings

Waylon Jennings

Outlaw Country Music Legend

Waylon Jennings was a prominent figure in American country music, known for his role in popularizing the outlaw country movement, which rebelled against the conservative restrictions of the Nashville sound. Born on June 15, 1937, in Littlefield, Texas, Jennings began his career as a radio DJ before moving on to perform music professionally. He played bass for Buddy Holly and was part of the ill-fated "Winter Dance Party" tour, which he fortuitously avoided due to giving up his seat on the plane that crashed and killed Holly in 1959.
