While the straight bass drum has gone higher, faster and further across the planet during the 1990s, a variety of more or less contemplative, uplifting and slowing down music has emerged from all corners. The other side of the coin, so to speak. Chillout, lounge, easy listening, trance, muzak and lift music, electronica and intelligent techno... and of course and above all Ambient. In old and new variants. Also in Kompakt, alongside the constant promotion of the so-called "cologne sound" - minimal techno - there was a strong predilection for ambient sounds. Pop ambient is a separate sound and opinion cosmos that is not afraid of contact with neighbouring genres, kitsch, art or carnival. Ambient is when you do it anyway.
