Finally, a successful soul compilation where you don't have to buy hits that have already been copied thousands of times to get more interesting songs. This double CD is a representative cross-section of the soul and funk styles of the 1970s, when "black music" was still celebrated with plenty of feel, horns and wah-wah effects. Some of the tracks on this CD appeared on the charts, but overall these recordings never received the attention and airplay of other soul greats of the era. It's worth noting that this sampler contains many of the tracks in the longplay version. Many tracks that are elsewhere distorted into single format, such as "Melting Pot" or "Do it 'til you are satisfied", can thus be heard in full length. 39 killer tracks with a killer sound !
