Booker T & The MG's

Booker T & The MG's

Iconic Soul and R&B Instrumental Group

Booker T. & the M.G.'s were a highly influential American instrumental R&B/funk band that was one of the most prolific acts on the Stax Records label in the 1960s and early 1970s. Formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1962, the group consisted of Booker T. Jones on keyboards and organ, Steve Cropper on guitar, Lewie Steinberg (later replaced by Donald "Duck" Dunn) on bass guitar, and Al Jackson Jr. on drums. They gained immediate fame with their first hit single, "Green Onions," which became a timeless organ-driven groove and remains a staple in American music.
