Vangelis will release a brand new album at the end of September!The legendary Greek composer and musician Vangelis is undoubtedly one of the pioneers of electronic music. The composer of dozens of unforgettable hits, who has been in the music business for an incredible fifty years, is still going strong at the age of seventy-three, which he will confirm with his new album Rosetta at the end of September.Vangelis has been a lover of space and everything related to the universe for many years, and his new work Rosetta, which will feature thirteen songs, has found its inspiration there. The main impetus for his new release, which will be in stores on 23 September, was the Rosetta spacecraft, which was sent by the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2004 to explore the nucleus of a comet for the first time in history. It achieved this after a decade-long mission in 2014, and during this journey it also made several flybys of Earth, Mars and the asteroids (2867) Steins and (21) Lutetia.The Greek composer was captivated by the probe and its mission, but the complete breakthrough and the decision to dedicate an entire album to the probe came when Vangelis was contacted from the International Space Station by astronaut André Kuipers, who is also a big fan of his music, and during a video call began to describe stories and experiences from the mission. And you can say that in some way they have always been connected to the music I have made," says Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou aka Vangelis, who has also scored films such as Blade Runner, The Mask, 1492: The Conquest of Paradise, Alexander the Great and Bounty."Rosetta is dedicated to all those who have contributed to making this mission a reality", adds the artist in one breath, who as a gesture of his great appreciation dedicated the song Mission Accomplie (Rosetta Waltz) to the entire mission team.The enthusiasm for space is confirmed by the Greek legend's previous works. In 2001, he composed the beautiful chorale symphony Mythodea for the launch of the American space probe Mars Odyssey, and he is also credited with the music for the documentary series Cosmos.
