After Steve Winwood left the successful Spencer Davis Group for the bright lights of country and jam sessions with Jim Capaldi, Dave Mason and Chris Wood, Traffic was formed in Birmingham in April 1967. Traffic began as a psychedelic rock band and diversified their sound by using instruments such as keyboards and incorporating jazz and improvisational techniques. Soon after, in December 1967, Traffic released their debut album "Mr. Fantasy" on Island Records. Rolling Stone magazine called this album "one of the best from any contemporary group" and it became a staple in almost every poll for the best album of the 20th and 21st centuries! Now the album is being reissued separately from the phenomenal boxset "Traffic 2019 - The Studio Albums 1967-74". Remastered from the original recordings and pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl, it is a recommendation for all new and seasoned Traffic fans alike.
